Name of Youth Ministry:  “Unified”
Scripture: Ephesians 4:2-4
“Be humble and gentle.  Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.  Always keep yourselves united in the Holy Spirit, and bind yourselves together with peace.  We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future.”

Unified: To bring together, to unite as one

Youth Ministry
Our Youth at Roanoke House of Prayer play a very important role in our church family.  Several of our youth are musicians, or sing on our praise team, a large number of our youth are involved with our Creative Ministry team, worshiping God through dance, sign language and puppetry. Our youth help teach Children’s Church on Sunday mornings, and also work in our Nursery.  There are many opportunities for youth to get involved at Roanoke House of Prayer, as they develop into our future leaders, and walk in the gifts and callings that God has placed on their lives.

Mission/Outreach opportunities
In the summer of 2006 a group of youth traveled to Tylertown, Mississippi to help rebuild from the damages of Katrina. We painted and entire house, painted the inside of another house, built a porch, and built relationships with the wonderful people of Tylertown, and Pastor Glen Allen’s church.

Summer 2007 we had a lock in at the Wayside Christian Mission Homeless Shelter, where we were given various opportunities to serve women, children, and some families who were living in the shelter.  We were also given opportunities to minister, and share some of our Creative ministry dances with a group of women in the court yard.  Our youth were very touch, and filled with compassion especially to the children who were living in the shelter.  Through that experience one of youth did a “God Rocks” mission outreach at our VBS, with the children from Roanoke House of Prayer, painting rocks and selling them so that all the proceeds can go back to Wayside Christian Mission.

Summer 2007 our youth also went on a camping trip to Yogi Bear’s Jelly Stone Campgrounds.  There the youth passed out kid friendly tracks to many kids at the campgrounds, and invited them to a playground near our cabin where our youth hosted a puppet show, and face painting to share Jesus with all the children. Lots of children came to the puppet show and face painting, it was a great experience for our youth.

Youth Events
Our Youth attend Fire Fall Youth Convention every year in Louisville Kentucky.  We have an awesome time, growing closer to God and one another.  It is hosted by Buddy and Jessica Berry, who are inspiring, and hilarious.  Everyone enjoys the mix of seriousness with God, fun and games with the group, and entertainment.  www.firefallministries.com

Our Youth attend and help organize a local S.T.A.N.D. youth rally, annually at Larue County High School, along with other area churches in the community.  S.T.A.N.D. stands for Students Taking A New Direction, the youth rally focuses on equipping teens to stand for God, and keeping their direction focused on Him.

Annual “Muddy Football & Volleyball” with area local churches.  We have a playing field plowed up and then sprayed with tons of water by the local Fire Department, for one big muddy mess!!!

Jeremiah 29:11 – “God has a plan and future for your life”

About our Youth Classes
Our youth grades 7th thru 12th meet in the youth center across the road from Roanoke House of Prayer.  The youth center is actually where the original Roanoke House of Prayer began in the metal building of Mac and Julia Trumbo in 1979.  We have since then repainted and added our mix of youth friendly décor.  We are currently in the process of making renovations to the building and updating the look.   We have Sunday School on Sunday mornings at 10:00am taught by Tamra Trumbo, assisted by Gail Scott.  Wednesday nights we go across the road for class after praise & worship, our class on Wednesday nights is led by Youth Pastors Matt and Tamra Trumbo.   We believe in equipping our youth to be Godly men and women of God, living a life of holiness, and purity before the Lord.

“That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” & believe in your heart that God raise him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9
